With A Smile

I couldn’t help but watch them
As he stood there
Trying to mask his concern
He could tell that something about her had changed
Why was she so angry?
Didn’t she know how much he loved her?
What had he done wrong?
Her flushed cheeks seemed to scream where do I begin?
With the woman who just walked out the door?
The fact that you don’t call me anymore?
Or the lies you told me time and again?
But all I heard her say, in her sweetest voice,
Which was more amused than angered:
"I don’t think learning not to love you anymore is going to be as hard as I had thought"
And she walked away with a smile
